Our History

Hudson Baylor was founded in 1983 following the passage of New York State's bottle bill. This law mandated that soft drink and beer distributors initiate deposits and redeem returned soft drink and beer containers. Within New York State, this legislation created a new industry virtually overnight as returnable containers were now collected and processed and the resulting commodities were sold to be made into new products.

With connections in the beverage industry, Hudson Baylor's founders capitalized on this opportunity and set up independent facilities for collecting and processing returned containers. We subsequently expanded our bottle law work into neighboring Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Recent upgrades in our bottle law facilities have given us the ability to offer our customers a superior product while cutting costs across the board.

As the market for recyclable materials has expanded, so have our services. While initially focusing on handling plastic, glass, and aluminum, we now process all forms of fiber, including newspaper, OCC, and high grades of paper, and also provide confidential document destruction services.

Hudson Baylor has also expanded into municipal recycling. We now own and operate three of the largest materials recovery facilities (MRFs) in the Southwest and our three New York State locations span from the CT to NJ boarders. Our commitment to working effectively with municipalities is perceived to be our greatest strength.
