Bottle Law Recyling
Hudson Baylor was founded in 1983, in response to the enactment of New York State's Returnable Container Law,
wherein beverage distributors are required under bottle laws to redeem returned containers. We have extensive experience in collecting, processing, and reselling recycled containers--be they glass, plastic or aluminum.
In practice, bottle laws in New York and other states require a careful tracking of containers, deposits and processing/handling fees among beverage distributors and retailers, in addition to the hands-on collection and processing of the recyclable products.
This is where Hudson Baylor's expertise comes into play. We collect the bottles and cans from both retailers and distributors, bring them to our facility, and process them. We track the volume collected, where we collect it, and where the commodities ultimately will be sent. We collect returned containers from:
- "reverse-vending" machines located in supermarkets,
- bottles and cans taken in at a staffed redemption desks at retail stores, and
- bottles and cans that distributors store in beer cases.
Our services both fulfill the requirements of the bottle bill and meet the recycling needs of distributors and retailers. This allows our clients to focus on what they do best--supplying retailers and customers with beverages.
In bottle bill work, we will:
- Supply a ‘drop trailer’ at our customer’s location.
- Pickup on a regularly scheduled stop, or
- Arrange for transportation for delivery at our facility.
In each case, we are as flexible as our clients need us to be.
Bottle bill work typically generates three types of recyclable products: glass, plastic, and aluminum. Please see the products section to learn more about how we process each commodity.
